Description
Wall-mounted brass plaque comprising, incised black lettering in Roman capitals set in a wooden frame and a wide patterned border of vines and bunches of grapes. The plaque is located on a wall of the south aisle inside the church. The names of those who died are listed in six columns.
Inscription
TO THE GLORY OF GOD AND IN MEMORY OF THE MEN OF MORPETH/ WHO FELL IN THE GREAT WAR 1914-1918. 233 names are then listed in six columns followed by the inscription "THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE"

  • Morpeth Herald of 15/4/1921, 9/9/1921 and 16/9/1921 reports intention of placing the brass tablet and cost. On 30/9/1921 it confirmed the no one was obliged to pay to add a name to the plaque. On 10/2/1922 it reported on the proposed unveiling and on the 3/3/1922 it reported on the unveiling. On 2/4/1948 it reported on the return of the colours to the Northumberland Fusiliers.
