Description: Cast nickel Plaque set in a plain dark wood frame. Around the edge of the central plaque is an elaborate cast border of raised maple leaves and branches with animals and birds. Above the inscription is a flowery cross, and below is the badge of the Canadian Expeditionary Force. All the lettering is in raised in casting using plain capitals throughout.
Inscription: TO THE MEMORY OF / FRANK ISMAY GILCHRIST / 48TH HIGHLANDERS OF CANADA / FIRST CANADIAN EXPEDITIONARY / OVERSEAS FORCE, / BORN AT WELLBURN IN THIS PARISH, / KILLED IN ACTION AT ST JULIEN / APRIL 24TH 1915. / THEY SHALL GROW NOT OLD AS WE / THAT ARE LEFT GROW OLD / AGE SHALL NOT WEARY THEM NOR THE / YEARS CONDEMN / AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN AND / IN THE MORNING / WE WILL REMEMBER THEM
