Inscription: (.....)/ ALSO OF/ CHARLES JOHN/ THEIR ELDER SURVIVING SON,/ A LIEUTENANT IN THE 1ST BATTALION OF/ HER MAJESTY'S 24TH REGIMENT, / BORN MAY 27TH 1855,/ KILLED IN ACTION AT ISANDLWHANA,/ ON THE 22ND JANUARY 1879.
