EDWARD SHORTT SOMETIME VICAR OF THIS/ PARISH./ HE SERVED HIS COUNTRY IN SOUTH AFRICA AS A VOLUNTEER IN/ THE IMPERIAL LIGHT HORSE, WAS MORTALLY WOUNDED IN ACTION AT LADYSMITH/ AND FELL ASLEEP IN THE FAITH ON JANUARY 24 1900, AGED 24 YEARS. R.I.P.
