    Description
    Triumphal Arch Gateway which forms the southerly access to Duncombe Park. The gates were added to the archway circa 1920-30. The date 1806 is inscribed on the entablature.

    LAMENTED HERO OH PRICE HIS CONQUERING COUNTRY GRIEVED TO PAY! OH DEAR BOUGHT GLORIES OF TRAFALGAR'S DAY! (It would appear a painted correction has been made to the spelling of unparalleled, reported very faint in 2017)

    The gateway forms the southerly access to Duncombe House Estate. Wrought iron gates were added interwar period and the south pier, demolished during WW2 to ease access for tanks, was rebuilt after the Second World War.
