    • Weekly Chronicle (London) - Saturday 23 June 1855 Page 12 MONUMENTS TO A HERO OF BALAKLAVA. — Four fac simile monuments are to be erected in the churches of Worlaby, Raskelf, Cowton, and Westwick, to the memory of Captain Webb, of the 17th Lancers, who occupied a prominent position in the memorable Light Cavalry charge at Balaklava, and was mortally wounded in that encounter. These monuments are the produce of a subscription among the tenantry of 'Wm. F. Webb, Esq., the elder and only brother of the deceased, whose estates are situated in the above parishes. Each monument bears the following inscription To the memory of Augustus Frederick Cavendish Webb, Captain 17th Lancers, who died on the 6th of November, 1854, aged 22, at the hospital, Scutari, from wounds received in the brilliant charge of the Light Cavalry Division on the 25th of October, 1854, at the memorable battle of Balaklava. It is equally intended as a mark of deep sympathy with, and affectionate regard for, every member of his family, by the tenants of his only and elder brother, Wm. Fred. Webb, Esq." ---
