    In a park with large archway gate at entrance. Two bronze plaques flanking front sides of the arch. Inscription with white painted lettering , carved into the stone on the archway. Coloured Sowerby Bridge crest at the top of the plaques

    (ARCH): 1914 1919/ 1939 1945/ LEST WE FORGET (Left plaque): SOWERBY BRIDGE/ WAR MEMORIAL/ THIS MEMORIAL ARCH WAS/ ERECTED, AND THE LAND FOR/ THIS PARK PROVIDED BY/ PUBLIC SUBSCRIPTION. IN/ PROUD REMEMBRANCE OF/ THOSE RESIDENTS OF SOWERBY/ BRIDGE WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES,/ AND IN GRATITUDE TO THOSE/ SURVIVORS WHO SERVED IN/ THE GREAT WAR, 1914 - 1919/ TO YOU FROM FAILING HANDS WE THROW/ THE TORCH BE YOURS TO HOLD IT HIGH/ IF YE BREAK FAITH WITH US WHO DIE/ WE SHALL NOT SLEEP, THOUGH POPPIES GROW/ IN FLANDERS FIELDS.
