    Maintenance History
In 2017 a War Memorials Trust grant of £13,630 was awarded through War Memorials Trust Grants Scheme towards gentle cleaning to improve the legibility of the inscription, realignment of the dislodged lower step, lime mortar pointing, repairs and pointing to steps and low retaining wall and relaying of the crazy paved area around the memorial and repointing it all. The metal posts around the memorial were also protected with SmartWater as one of the conditions of the grant; November 1999-The memorial was vandalised: it had graffiti daubed on the walls, slabs of stone removed from the steps and plants pulled up from the Garden of Remembrance.
