Description: Simple square structure with domed top and carved cross on each face. Commemoration plaques on its sides. All set in a paved area within parkland.
Inscription: (Plaque 1): THEY SHALL GROW NOT OLD AS WE THAT ARE LEFT GROW OLD/ THEY WHO DIED 1939-45/ (Names) (Plaque 2): AGE SHALL NOT WEARY THEM NOR THE YEARS CONDEMN/ THEY WHO DIED 1939-45/ (Names) (Plaque 3): AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN AND IN THE MORNING WE WILL REMEMBER THEM/ THEY WHO DIED 1939-45/ (Names) (Separate plaque): THIS CENOTAPH WAS RESITED TO THIS LOCATION ON 11TH AUGUST 1985. THANKS TO DONATIONS RECEIVED FROM LOCAL BUSINESS AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE FROM THE GREATER MANCHESTER COUNCIL . BUSINESSES ALSO GAVE THEIR TIME AND LABOUR WITH MATERIALS FREE OF CHARGE (List of sponsors follow)

Maintenance History: c. 1998-1999: The memorial was daubed with graffiti by some Swinton youths and was subsequently cleaned. 2007: The memorial ha been painted with white anti-vandal paint to defer graffiti.
