Description: Wall mounted, landscape oriented, nowy-headed backboard supporting a brass plaque. Inscription on plaque is in relief and enclosed on three sides by an engraved decorative border band. The letters "VR ER" and crown are set on to the nowy-headed section of the backboard.
Inscription: Backboard: VR ER // Plaque: IN HONOUR OF THE MEN OF TODMORDEN WHO VOLUNTEERED / FOR SERVICE IN THE SOUTH AFRICAN WAR. 1899-1902 / 2ND.. V.B. LANCASHIRE FUSLIERS. / (17 NAMES) / IMPERIAL YEOMANRY. / (3 NAMES) / ST. JOHN AMBULANCE BRIGADE. / (3 NAMES) / AND OF THE LOCAL RESERVISTS / AND REGULARS WHO ALSO SERVED / IN THE CAMPAIGN. / ERECTED BY THE SUBSCRIBERS TO THE BOROUGH OF TODMORDEN WAR FUND
