    Description
    Boulevard of maple trees with associated plaque. Each pair of trees has a flagstone dedicated to two Canadian ships or units. Interpretative markers have been placed on plinths at either end of the boulevard. On the interpretative markers are the Royal Candian Air Force badge, the Royal Canadian Navy badge and the Canadian Merchant Navy badge above the inscription. Below it are maple leaves and the Canadian flag

    THIS BOULEVARD OF MAPLE TREES/ IS DEDICATED AS A LIVING MEMORIAL/ TO THE SACRIFICE, VALOUR AND INDUSTRY/ OF CANADIANS IN THE DEFENCE OF FREEDOM/ DURING THE BATTLE OF THE ATLANTIC/ 1939-1945/ AND IN RECOGNITION OF THE SPECIAL/ RELATIONSHIP THAT DEVELOPED BETWEEN/ CANADA AND THE CITY OF LIVERPOOL/ DURING THOSE DARK DAYS/ COMMEMORATING THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY/ OF ALLIED VICTORY IN EUROPE/ DEDICATED 15TH MAY 1995/ "LEST WE FORGET" INTERPRETIVE MARKERS, LEFT SIDE: CANADA BOULEVARD / THIS MEMORIAL BOULEVARD WAS DEDICATED ON 15TH MAY 1995 TO COMMEMORATE THE PIVOTAL ROLE / CANADA PLAYED IN WINNING THE BATTLE OF THE ATLANTIC, 1939-1945, AND TO SERVE AS A LIVING / MEMORIAL TO CANADIANS WHO MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE DURING THAT CRUCIAL BATTLE OF THE / SECOND WORLD WAR. / BRITAIN'S VERY SURVIVAL, AND THE EVENTUAL LIBERATION OF EUROPE, HINGED ON VICTORY AGAINST ENEMY / SUMBMARINE'S IN THE NORTH ATLANTIC. DURING THE BATTLE OF THE ATLANTIC, CANADA'S FLEDGELING NAVY / ESCORTED A TOTAL OF 25,343 MERCHANT VESSELS, IN CONVOYS, FROM NORTH AMERICA TO THE ISLAND / FORTRESS. MANY WERE DESTINED FOR LIVERPOOL FROM WHICH THE UNITED KINGDOM'S CONVOY BATTLE / WAS DIRECTED. THOSE SHIPS DELIVERED 181 MILLION TONS OF CARGO TO THIS COUNTRY IN ITS TIME OF / GREATEST NEED. CANADA EVENTUALLY PROVIDED A REMARKABLE 47 PERCENT OF ALL NORTH ATLANTIC CONVOY / ESCORTS. THEIR SUCCESS WAS ACHIEVED THROUGH THE COURAGEOUS DETERMINATION OF THE ROYAL / CANADIAN NAVY AND CANADA'S MERCHANT NAVY, WITH THE ESSENTIAL SUPPORT OF THE CANADIAN / AIR FORCE AND CO-OPERATING ALLIED FORFCES ON BOTH SIDES OF THE ATLANTIC.
