    THE BOOK/ OF/ REMEMBRANCE/ OF/ 352 MEN AND WOMEN OF/ HOYLAKE/ WEST KIRBY/ MEOLS/ CALDY/ FRANKBY/ NEWTON/ IRBY/ GREASBY/ AND THURSTASTON/ WHO LOST THEIR LIVES THROUGH THE WAR/ 1914-1919 They whom this book/ commemorates were/ numbered among those/ who, at the call of King/ and Country, left all that was dear to/ them, endured hardness, faced/ danger, and finally passed out of/ the sight of men by the path of/ duty and self sacrifice, giving/ up their own lives that others/ might live in freedom. Let those who come after see/ to it that their names be not/ forgotten. On the inside of the front cover: Book of Remembrance/ (Hoylake, West Kirby, Meols and Surrounding District)/ By Resolution of the War Memorial/ Executive Committee of November 25th/ 1926, it was unanimously Resolved to place/ the Book in the custody of the Dean and/ Chapter of the Cathedral Church of Chester/ in this County, and was accepted by them. The Book is in an oaken case in the South/ Transept of the Cathedral, to be open by all/ persons interested. Relatives of fallen men and/ women may inspect the Book on application to/ the Verger/ This is an exact copy of the original/ Book of Remembrance.
