    SOLDIER STANDING AT EASE, LEFT FOOT FORWARD RESTING ON A ROCK. ASHLAR PYLON WITH FOUR STEPPED BASE, INSCRIPTION TO FRONT FACE AND NAMES ON PANELS TO SIDES. FLANKED BY CAST IRON LAMP STANDARDS TO EITHER SIDE. BELOW NAME PANELS, FRIEZES DEPICT (1) SOLDIERS MARCHING TO WAR ("MILITARY"); (2) THE DECK OF AN ARMED MERCHANT SHIP ("NAVAL"); (3) RETURNING SOLDIERS & SAILORS, SOME WOUNDED, AND NURSES ("THE HOMECOMING")
