    • From North Lincolnshire Museum Services: I have had this question before, so I have the answer all ready. The war memorial used to be on Doncaster Road as you already said. It was opposite the Old Showground, which was then home to Scunthorpe FC. It was opposite what is now Sainsburys, and in between the Baths Hall and Exeter Road. It was unveiled in 1926 and moved to where it is now in 1955 Caption with the attached image: "Lord Derby laying at wreath at Scunthorpe and District War Memorial on Doncaster Road near the former Baths Hall on 10 October 1936. It was part of the celebrations to mark the granting of Scunthorpe's Borough Charter, and standing behind him, is the Charter Mayor, Sir Berkeley Sheffield." I estimate the location as being around SE 88760 11263
