WMR Reference Number: 2108
Description: Bronze winged victory holding laurel wreath and inverted sword to resemble cross, set on a granite pedestal on a plinth of steps. It has two bronze inscription plaques dedicated to WW1 and WW2. The corners of the pedestal are decorated with bronze hooded cherubs and dolphins. On the 6 o'clock face there is a WW1 dedication. On the 12 o'clock face there is 'World War II' enclosed in a laurel wreath with a dedication below.
Inscription: 6 o'clock face: THE TRIBUTE OF/ EASTBOURNE/ TO HER GALLANT/ SONS AND DAUGHTERS/ WHO WERE FAITHFUL/ UNTO DEATH/ IN THE GREAT WAR/ 1914-1918/ THEIR NAMES/ ARE RECORDED/ ON OAK TABLETS/ IN THE TOWN HALL 12 o'clock face: CONFLICTS SINCE 1945/ IN MEMORY OF/ THE RESIDENTS OF/ EASTBOURNE/ WHO HAVE/ GIVEN THEIR LIVES/ IN THE SERVICE/ OF THIS COUNTRY/ AND OF/ THIS COMMUNITY/ SINCE 1945/ WE WILL REMEMBER THEM/
