    Description
    High, wall mounted, arch-headed black marble backboard with an attached apex-pedimented, dedicatory white tablet, additionally supported by a single corbel stone. Within the pediment is a carved relief displaying a skull and hour glass. Central section of the tablet bears an incised inscription and name infilled with black paint. At the base of the tablet is a drop-curved area incorporating a further carved relief of the instruments of war.

    Sacred to the Memory of / The gallant / LIEUTENANT COLONEL COLLIER / Of the Coldstream Guards / Who died the 10th of May 1814 of the severe Wounds he received / In the dreadful Sortie of the French from Bayonne. / He was an Officer universally beloved by the Soldiers, / And esteemed by his Brother Officers for his unremitting Attention, Zeal, / And Courage in the course of 14 Years distinguished Service with the Guards / In Egypt, Germany, Denmark, Portugal, Spain, and France. / He was the eldest Son of the late Admiral Sir G. Collier by his Wife Eliz. Fryer / And Godson and Great Nephew of the late Benjamin Collier, Esq. / Of Groton Place, in the County of Suffolk / This small Tribute to his Memory so inestimably dear and valued / His ever affectionate and afflicted Mother dedicates to her darling Son, / Taken from her in the Prime of Life and Glory, / At the Age of 31 Years.
