    Description
    Circular base surmounted by cenotaph which is supported by bronze figures of a soldier and a sailor lunging forwards with fixed bayonets. Whole is set within a landscaped area with stone steps leading up to the cenotaph. RAF wings on the top two sides of the cenotaph. Wreath and garland surmounting a cross carved at the top of the front and rear face.

    (6 o'clock): PRO/ PATRIA/ MORI/ TO THE IMMORTAL HONOUR OF/ THE MEN AND WOMEN OF THE/ CITY OF BRADFORD/ WHO SERVED THEIR KING AND EMPIRE/ 1914-1918 1939-1945/ AND IN OTHER CONFLICT/ IN PROUD AND/ GRATEFUL REMEMBRANCE (Original Inscription): TO THE IMMORTAL HONOUR OF THE MEN/ OF THE CITY OF BRADFORD WHO SERVED/ THEIR KING AND EMPIRE IN THE GREAT/ WAR, 1914 - 1918 THIS MEMORIAL ERECTED/ BY THEIR FELLOW CITIZENS IS DEDICATED/ IN PROUD AND GRATEFUL REMEMBRANCE,/ 1ST JULY, 1922/ UNVEILED BY ALDERMAN A.     Maintenance History
    Date unknown : New dedicatory inscription put on the memorial to replace original. 1969: Bayonets deliberately bent and twisted when the memorial was cleaned soon afterwards they were not replaced. Instead, they are kept by the council and placed on the rifles for ceremonial occasions.
