- THIS TABLET IS PLACED HERE SO THAT/ THOSE WHO READ THESE WORDS MAY/ REMEMBER THE MEN AND WOMEN OF THE/ FIRE SERVICE WHO WERE MEMBERS OF/ THE FIRE BRIGADES UNION AND WHO/ DIED IN THE WAR AGAINST FASCISM/ 1939 - 1945/ THERE AMIDST THE WORLD NEW-BUILDED SHALL OUR/ EARTHLY DEEDS ABIDE. THOUGH OUR NAMES BE/ ALL FORGOTTEN, AND THE TALE OF HOW WE DIED.
