    Description
    Triptych with triangular pediment, beneath which are two hinged doors and a pedestal. The memorial commemorates parishioners from both St Mary's Church in Lower Gravenhurst and from St Giles' Church in Upper Gravenhurst.

      Reason for move

      The Grade II* listed St Giles' Church was declared redundant in 2007. After it was sold for redevelopment in 2015, the memorial was relocated to its current site in Gravenhurst's Methodist Chapel.

    • Bedfordshire Times and Independent (page 2) reported that the memorial (which it described as a shrine, bearing the names of those who had died and those still serving) had been dedicated the previous Sunday.
    • Bedfordshire Times and Independent 23/4/1920 (page 4) reported the unveiling of the granite memorial in St Giles' churchyard, in which mention was made that 24 men from Gravenhurst village had served in WW1, of whom 9 had died.
