    Maintenance History
2009: leaking pipe caused subsidence and a trial excavation was held. It was discovered that settlement in the foundations had damaged rainwater pipework below the ground and both the drain and masonry needed to be repaired. Repairs have been estimated at £2,000. An application for half the cost has been made to the War Memorials Trust. The Council will need to meet the other half. 2008: Cracks in the mortar of the wings on either side of the main column. The movement has forced the right side of the central copper plaque away from the wall. A survey was commisioned. 2001: Railing to be refurbished and painted. 1995: Korean War tablet returned after it was lost following the refurbishment of the main memorial 1993: Left wing of the 1939-45 section of the memorial was under-pinned due to damage by drains and tree roots. Works cost £4,800
