Description
Elaborate wall monument. Centrepiece depicts sculpted relief of a standing lancer holding reins of a horse and extending his right hand to aid another soldier, bareheaded and possibly wounded, seated on the ground beneath a palm tree. This centrepiece is flanked by two broken columns bearing the names of the fallen. Badge of the 16th Queen's Lancers above figures.

ALIWAL/ TO THE MEMORY OF/ THE OFFICERS NON-COMMISSIONED OFFICERS AND PRIVATES ABOVE INSCRIBED/ OF THE SIXTEENTH QUEENS LANCERS/ WHO FELL IN THE DISCHARGE OF THEIR DUTY/ DURING THE CAMPAIGN ONTHE SUTLEJ/ IN THE YEARS 1845 - 1846/ THIS MONUMENT/ IS ERECTED BY THEIR SURVIVING COMRADES/ (NAMES)
