    Description
    An elaborate runic cross on a square pillar. At the top of each face are recessed figures: St George, the Black Prince and representatives of each of the three services. Plaques bearing names and inscriptions are bronze and the column stands on an octagonal platform filled with cobblestones.

    Maintenance History
    The column was vandalised and repaired in1981. Planned recutting and refurbishing in progress November 2007 (Canterbury City Council Canterbury Area member Panel 5 Nov. 2007) Ap. 2008 refurbishment began: recutting and reshaping lettering and carvings, cleaning and preservation work to bronze plaques and refurbishment of railings. Undertaken by Heritage Stone Restoration Co., Bromley . Cost £9000.(City Council news release).
