    Description
    Four steps lead up to curved brick wall. Set against the centre of the wall is a brick plinth with sloped top having a plan of the airfield. A dedicatory plaque placed on the front of the plinth. There are plaques on the wall to the left and right of the plinth. The face of the top step has plaques in the centre and at both ends. The face of the two steps below this has plaques at each end.

    Plaque on plinth: WORLD WAR II/ 403 & 421 SQUADRONS/ ROYAL CANADIAN AIR FORCE/ FLEW FROM/ THE AIRLFIELD NEARBY/ 106 GAVE THEIR ALL/ TO GIVE US PEACE./ 127 WING 1983 Wall plaque, left hand side: REMEMBERING THOSE WHO DIED WHILST FLYING/ FROM HEADCORN (EGERTON) AIRFIELDS/ FROM APRIL TO OCTOBER 1943, OF 403 AND 421/ SQUADRONS, ROYAL CANADIAN AIR FORCE/ 403 SQUADRON/ (Names)/ 421 SQUADRON/ (Name) Wall plaque, right hand side: REMEMBERING THOSE WHO DIED WHILST BASED AT/ THIS AIRFIELD FROM APRIL 1944 TO JULY 1944, OF THE/ 362nd FIGHTER GROUP, UNITED STATES NINTH AIR FORCE./ 377 SQUADRON/ (Names)/ 378 SQUADRON/ (Names)/ 379 SQUADRON/ (Names)/ 362 F.G. H.Q./ (Name) Plaque on top step: From this airfield on June 6, 1944,/ the 362nd fighter group U.S.A.F./ took off to support the invasion of Normandy/ in pursuit of Peace and Freedom for all mankind.
